We Are The Champions…

When it came round to writing today’s blog post we found ourselves looking online for  a range of recent articles and of course today is the budget day and is filled with all the politics surrounding that. So we could be sat here giving our opinion on the recent tax decrease for wine and spirits but that could end badly…

So, we’re doing a blog post about a very well known song called We Are The Champions… hands up who now has the song in their heads?  It is a bit of a bold statement to make, certainly now that there are far more popular hash tags out there. It is, but, this is the difference.  In 2012, almost 3 years ago we sat down at my laptop opened up twitter and registered @BoostTorbay.

At the time we had no idea how far it would go, how big it could be, or what we really wanted for it.  In fact one could argue we didn’t even have a plan.  However, we knew, based on a very small marketing experience we had recently had, that using hash-tags got people talking and connecting to each other.

Thus #BoostTorbay was born.  We simply started telling people to pop in #BoostTorbay into their tweets and we in turn would Re-Tweet them or RT as  we call it.  In term of business success, well that’s debatable, but in terms of twitter success that is quite clear.

Over 4,300 of you have followed us in the 3 years that we have been on twitter.  You have put up with our pictures, awful spelling, at times, and even late RTs.

Our first ever Tweet was written on the 28th May 2012 and said something like this:
