The consultation for improving Paignton and Preston seafronts has now moved into the third and last phase and we would like to hear views from residents on one idea for each seafront.
Over 450 people took part in the second phase, where they fed back what they like and don’t like about two ideas for both seafronts. LDA Design, the independent design consultancy commissioned by us, have taken on board all the feedback, and have now prepared one design for both Paignton and Preston seafronts. They would now like to hear from residents about their views on the plans. They particularly want to hear from people who use the seafronts, who live in Paignton and Preston, those who have experienced flooding from the sea in Paignton and from businesses based in the area. 
There are three ways to get involved and to share thoughts on the latest design for both Paignton and Preston seafronts:
- Online – You can view the plans for both seafronts, complete the poll and leave comments on our engagement website. You have until midnight on Sunday 11 September 2022 to take part.
- We will have a stand at Children’s Week on Paignton Green between 10.30 am and 4 pm on Saturday 20 August 2022. Come down, see the plans and leave your thoughts.
- Paper copies of the final plans and the consultation will be available in Paignton Library and Information Centre from Wednesday 24 August. They will be available from our reception desk. Completed consultations will need to be returned by Friday 9 September 2022.
Workshops with businesses and other organisations who have an invested interest in the area will be taking place in September.Â

Your views and feedback are important to us and have helped to shape this next phase and the ideas for improving the seafront.
“All of our wonderful coastline brings people to the area, but this part of the Bay is under threat from rising sea levels. This is why LDA Design are helping us to explore the type of sea defences that are right to protect the town from flooding. I hope those of you who use or live by Paignton and Preston Seafronts, particularly those whose properties have experienced flooding from the sea, take the time to look at the plans and help us shape the improvements to your area.”
