SWISCo, a Torbay Council owned company, are excited to announce the addition of two new John Deere tractors that have recently been added to their fleet through a contract with Mason Kings.
The new tractors will soon be supporting the SWISCo grounds maintenance and parks teams with ensuring the grass and hedges are maintained as well as supporting the green waste management of Torbay’s beaches throughout the summer.
All of these services are delivered by SWISCo on behalf of Torbay Council.
The new tractors are some of the most economical, environmentally friendly and comfortable tractors that are on the market. With greater front suspension on the vehicles to give more traction on all surfaces as well as increasing the drivers safety. The tractors also reduce impact to loads mounted with hedge trimmers and mowers.
Despite the tractors being environmentally friendly they are not yet powered by electric, this is due to the requirement of horsepower. It is the intention of SWISCo to use the vehicles as an alternative to heavy goods vehicles as they are more economical.
As part of the contract with Mason Kings, they will be sponsoring a new crest bed on Torquay seafront and will be supplying SWISCo with a trailer which will become the community toolkit trailer. The trailer will be used for group litter picking and other community activities.
Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member of Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay Council said:
We are pleased to introduce these vehicles to the SWISCo fleet. They will be a great addition to help maintain the Bay and keep it looking lovely for residents and visitors.”
