Stop Smoking Support Available for Pregnant Women in Torbay

If you are pregnant, and would like help to stop smoking, you can drop in to Gaia Coffee in Winner Street, Paignton, for a free coffee and chat on Monday 17 October between 2pm and 4pm.

The event is being organised by Torbay Maternity Services, which has a new smokefree pregnancy service to support pregnant women and their families to stop smoking.

Smoke Free Pregnancy Support Worker, Katie, said: “The smokefree pregnancy social is open to pregnant women and their families who smoke or have recently quit.

“Our team are non-judgemental and will be on hand to provide help and advice. This is a great opportunity to come along and meet us, and other pregnant woman and their families, and find out what is available to help you stop smoking.

“We will have nicotine replacement products and e-cigarettes on the day. So, you can pop in, enjoy a hot drink, and pick up some free products to help support you with your smokefree journey.”

Sophie (30), who accessed the smokefree pregnancy service, said: “I was struggling for the past couple of months to give up smoking until I was referred to Katie. She has been amazing and supported me and kept in touch with me the whole way through, and was always there when I needed her. The service is brilliant and has really helped me.”

As part of Stoptober, if you sign up to the Torbay Stop Smoking Service this October you are in with a chance of winning a £250 Boots voucher. Pregnant women and people will need to attend an appointment or drop in before their quit day and 28 to 42 days after their quit day to provide a carbon monoxide (CO) reading.
