Rowcroft Hospice is proud to announce the launch of a new coastal challenge walk, D2D. The Dartmouth to Dawlish walking challenge will take place between Saturday 16 – Sunday 17 May, covering 34 miles of stunning local coastline.

The challenge starts with the ferry journey from Dartmouth to Kingswear, followed by some of the most challenging Coastpath round to Berry Head, home to the largest guillemot colony to be found along the south coast of England and seas of beautiful wildflowers.

The path continues through Brixham as the walk gradually flattens and walkers can enjoy the sandy beaches and gentle paths as they walk up towards Rowcroft Hospice in Torquay.

D2D participants are encouraged to camp in the stunning Rowcroft grounds or if preferred, there are plenty of local B&Bs. All walkers are encouraged to join us to build up their energy stores with a big BBQ in the evening.

On the second day, the walk starts with a few strenuous climbs overlooking Torbay, walkers stop for lunch at The Cary Arms in Babbacombe and then the walk flattens out along the famous railway line finishing at Dawlish.

Transport, refreshments, parking and the routes will be organised by Rowcroft. To find out more, visit rowcrofthospice.org.uk/events/dartmouth-to-dawlish-coastal-challenge-walk

Rowcroft’s Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager, Alison Upton says: “We are so excited to be offering D2D as part of our Hospice Hero’s challenges. We really wanted to create a fundraising challenge that made the most of the beautiful scenery on our doorstep.

“We are so lucky to live in such a stunning area, D2D really celebrates this!”

As with all Rowcroft events, participants are encouraged to collect sponsorship money to help support the outstanding care Rowcroft Hospice provides for people living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon.
