Meadfoot Sea Road will be closed on the 6th June 2022 for resurfacing works to both the road and the footpath.

In order for the works to take place successfully Meadfoot Sea Road will be closed to all vehicles from Hesketh Road to Ilsham Marine Drive for eight days. Full pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the period of the works.

The closure will start on Monday 6th June and will continue to be closed for 5 days. It will then be taken down for the weekend on the 11th and 12th June before the closure being reinstated on the week commencing the 13th June 2022 for a further 3 days.

A diversion route will be in place for road users and will take you along the Babbacombe Road and through Wellswood and vice versa if travelling in the opposite direction.

Businesses in the area are unaffected and will be open as normal, so please continue to support your local traders in Torbay. The Osborne will also be accessible with any disruptions taking place for a very short period of time.

Torbay Council have committed in excess of £1.3 million of funding over the next financial year to continuously improve the roads and infrastructure in and around Torbay.

The roadworks are being completed by SWISCo contractor SWH Ltd on our behalf.

Cllr Mike Morey, Cabinet Member of Infrastructure, Environment and Culture said:

“If you are planning to visit the Meadfoot area between the 6 and 15 June please take this road closure into consideration when planning your journey.

“We do not take the decision to close roads lightly and we apologise for any inconvenience and disruption this may cause. The resurfacing of the road and footpath will go towards improving the quality of roads across Torbay and provide a brand-new surface for this popular road.”
