Olympic and 9x World Champion cyclist Victorian Pendleton CBE is encouraging cyclists to sign up and fundraise for the Ride for Rowcroft Hospice event this October.
Ride for Rowcroft takes place on Sunday 14th October 2018 and takes in the picturesque surroundings of South Devon to raise vital funds for Rowcroft Hospice.
£100k raised in 2 years
The two previous Ride for Rowcroft events have helped raise more than £100,000 and have helped support 2,000 people with life limiting illnesses.
Last year, 2017, Ride for Rowcroft saw over 450 participants take on the challenging 24km route, which took in breath-taking views through Chudleigh, Knighton, Bovey Tracey and the Teign Valley.
Bigger and better
This years event is looking set to be bigger and better with a new, challenging 32km, up-hill course.
Known locally as the Haytor Hillclimb.
Of course those who are not quite hard enough for this event can stay with the classic route which involves tarmacked roads with country lanes and a surfaced cycle path.
So whether its your first time or looking to beat your best time, the Ride to Rowcroft event is perfect for you to get on your bike.
Double Olympic and 9x World Champion Cyclist
UK Double Olympic Champion and 9x World champion cyclist Victoria Pendleton CBE is encouraging all cyclists to sign up and fundraise for the event, and had this to say:
“I encourage as many people as possible to take to the open road in the beautiful South Devon countryside for this great event! Whether you’re a regular cyclist going against the clock (or your friends!), a group of friends who enjoy riding together, or you just fancy challenging yourself to complete the course, I really hope lots of people will join in to make this the biggest and best year yet. Cycling is a fantastic way to get outside, to be active or just to spend time with the family, and it helps us all look after our physical and mental wellbeing.
Fundraising events such as Ride for Rowcroft raise vital funds to help people living with a life limiting illness across South Devon to make the most of every moment they have with their families. Every pound raised makes a huge difference so please sign up today and support the amazing work the Rowcroft Hospice do in your community. And you’ll have lots of fun on your bike along the way too”
Victoria is also a partner of Halfords who, earlier in the year, kindly, agreed to support Ride for Rowcroft with competition prizes and supporting riders with a free bike check and 10% discount at Torquay and Newton Abbot Stores.
