Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust’s chairman Sir Richard Ibbotson will serve a further one-year term as Chair at the invitation of the Council of Governors.
Richard, who has served as Chair since June 2014, has overseen the creation of Torbay and South Devon as the first trust to integrate acute, community and adult social care together in England and played a vital role in the creation and delivery of the care model and strategy. He will now remain in post until the end of May 2024.
He said: “I am happy to I confirm that, at the invitation of our Council of Governors, I will be remaining in my role as Chair of Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust until 31 May 2024.
“Throughout my nine years with Torbay and South Devon, I have been continuously impressed by the dedication of our people. I have been privileged to work with an equally dedicated board. I am delighted that I now have the opportunity to work with our people for a further year.”
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust’s chief executive, Liz Davenport, said: “On behalf of the board and all our staff I would like to thank our Council of Governors for offering Richard a further one-year term as Chair.
“We are delighted that he has accepted their offer and that we will have the benefit of his leadership, courage and wisdom for a further year.”
NHS England and NHS Improvement will lead on appointing Richard’s successor and further announcements will be made in due course.
