A brand-new farm shop is opening next month at Occombe Farm, in Paignton. Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust (TCCT) is delighted to confirm that work refitting and extending the old shop space is near completion and opening by mid-August is planned.

The new Occombe Farm Shop will showcase the very best produce the West Country has to offer. 75% of its products have been sourced from across the region. There’ll be a massive 6,000 product range including fresh and wholefoods, wines, spirits, beers and ciders, bakery and deli, and lifestyle and gifts.

Lily Shaw, Retail Manager, Occombe Farm Shop said:

“Our vision is to provide a local farm shop with the best possible range from across our region. Our team has spent months seeking out the cream of our region’s crop. We’ve listened to producer stories, tasted and sampled to select an exceptional, handpicked product range. We have all loved the journey and now can’t wait to share it with you!”

“We’re planning a range of farm-cooked picks for our deli and across our product selection we’ve looked to minimise single-use plastics and incorporate refillables and recycling”.

The remodelling and relaunch of Occombe Farm Shop is part of TCCT’s wider plan to regenerate Occombe Farm as a brand new, all weather, year-round, farm visitor destination.  Following the opening of Occombe Farm Shop, a new farm visitor attraction is due to open later this year. Occombe Farm Park & Play will be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities for all the family. There will be exploratory and inspirational indoor play for children aged 2 – 12 years, an outdoor jumping pillow feature and a self-guided animal trail with animal encounters barn and farm animal paddocks.

Cath Cooke, Occombe General Manager said:

“We can’t wait to unveil our brand new Occombe Farm Shop to our local community, and visitors. “Whilst we’re working hard on getting our farm shop open for August, lots of work will be going on behind the scenes at Occombe to bring our exciting new Farm Park & Play to Torbay for the autumn”.

The regeneration of Occombe is great news for Torbay and will deliver significant positive benefits. The Occombe development is not only providing a great new destination for local people and visitors, but is also generating 60 new job roles for the local community too. A variety of new and interesting new roles have been created. Customer Service Assistants and Kitchen Team Assistants are being recruited for right now. Occombe will be seeking to secure roles within the play barn and animal trail in the coming months.

As Torbay’s local conservation charity, TCCT is responsible for protecting and conserving over 1,700 acres of Torbay’s special natural places including Berry Head Nature Reserve, Cockington Country Park, Occombe Farm and many precious woodlands, cliffs and coastal walks. Occombe will help raise funds towards TCCT’s care of these treasured green places and spaces in Torbay.

The opening date for Occombe Farm Shop will be announced within the coming weeks.
