People in Torbay and South Devon who have health and care appointments on Monday 18 October are being urged to plan their travel to make sure they can be seen on time in view of the forthcoming proposed Industrial Action which will affect Stagecoach bus services in the area.
Staff at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are making alternative arrangements in order to get to work on Monday and are asking patients to do the same and:
- consider whether their journey from home to their appointment could realistically be made by bicycle, on foot or by organising a lift with a neighbour, friend or family member
- check the temporary timetable that will be published by Stagecoach buses to confirm which buses will be running
- allow extra time for their journey as traffic levels may be higher than usual
John Harrison, Chief Operating Officer, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We understand that not everyone may be able to get to their appointment on Monday due to the bus strike.
“We ask anyone who is not able to attend to contact us using the number on their appointment letter. We will arrange for your appointment to be rescheduled. By contacting us in advance, you will be supporting us to offer your cancelled appointment to another patient who may be able to attend.”
