PAM AYRES has been a writer, broadcaster and entertainer for over 35 years. It was November 1975 when Pam made her first TV appearance on the TV talent show, Opportunity Knocks, the “Britain’s Got Talent” TV show of its day, and this proved to be the start of an incredible career for a unique entertainer.
Now Pam Ayres is still in great demand performing her solo show in theatres throughout the UK, performing in excess of 60 concerts a year. She has taken her one-woman show to Ireland, the Middle East, Hong Kong, France, Kenya, Canada, and very regularly to Australia and New Zealand.
Pam Ayres brings her latest show to the Babbacombe Theatre in Torquay on Saturday 27th September at 7.30pm, following the recent publication of her new book of poetry, YOU MADE ME LATE AGAIN!
Pam Ayres’ work is funny, and approachable. It sounds simple, as though dashed off, but this is deceptive. Her hair-trigger timing, her eye for the detail of everyday life, and for the absurdity therein, makes for an art that hides art.
Pam has sold millions of books, CDs, and DVDs over the years, and she is still a regular on TV and Radio, on programmes such as Just A Minute, Ayres On The Air, Paul O’Grady Show, Alan Titchmarsh Show, Countdown, and The One Show.
“PAM AYRES has an incredible way with an audience. She was really one of the funniest comics I’ve seen, and it’s because of her rapport. She just treats the audience like a huge roomful of friends.” – Pam Ayres, Grand Opera House, York – March 2012
