Storm Diana has certainly made her presence felt, if not over night then certainly into the working day.
South Western Railway and Great Western Railway services maybe subject to delays this morning, 29/11/2018, as a 50mph emergency speed restriction has come into place due to the severe weather.
Passengers are advised to allow for extra time for their journey as the trains, are restricted to the 50mph speed limit.
Network Rail authorised the speed restriction due to the severe winds, which are expected die down into this afternoon.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said:
Due to the severe weather forecast by the Met Office, we have to impose speed restrictions on some lines on the South Western Railway network for the safety of passengers and railway staff.
“High winds can blow trees and other debris onto railway. These restrictions will mean train drivers are better able to bring trains to a halt if any obstructions are spotted ahead.”
Obviously in light of the speed restrictions it is expected that this will have a knock on effect to train services throughout the day.
