Best Outdoor Swimming Spots near Torbay

When the weather gets hot, a lot of us will head straight to the beach or go for that refreshing dip at our local out door pools.

Torbay is home to a variety of swimming locations, we’ve included a few of the best right here.

Shoalstone Outdoor Pool, Brixham

Shoalstone pool is due to reopen on the 26th May following the destruction caused by Storm Emma.

Measuring in at 53 metres  Shoalstone pool is situated in a stunning position, right on Brixham sea front and is one of only a few sea water swimming pools left.

Shoalstone Pool is open from Saturday 27th May to Sunday 3rd September every year.

Trained Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 6pm.

Entry to the pool is free.

Splashdown Quaywest, Paignton

Splashdown Quaywest, situated over looking the fantastic views of South Devon’s Beautiful Bay, is the UK’s biggest outdoor waterpark.

Splashdown Quaywest features slides and flumes of all shapes and sizes.

The slides range from 65ft drops down the Devils Drop through to elaborate 145m of Raging Rapids.

For those feeling a little less adventurous you will also find a 20m long swimming pool which is 1.2m deep.  Perfect for either a paddle or a swim.

Splashdown, Quaywest is situated in Goodrington, Paignton and is open from 10am-5pm (May-June) and 10am -6pm (July-September 2nd).

Costs of entry to the Splashdown Waterpark vary depending one time:

Early Bird Until 10:30am costs £12.20 per head
Prime Time Until 1:30pm for an all day fluming session £15.50 per head
Sunset Splash (From 2pm for a max of 4 hours) £13.20 per head
Under 5s £7.00
Over 60s £8.50

TLH Aztec Leisure Club, Torquay

Swimming Facilities at the TLH Aztec

The TLH Outdoor pool is situated next to the Aztec Bistro & Terrace which is a  popular spot on sunny English Riviera Days.

Admission to the TLH Aztec Leisure Club Indoor and Outdoor pools are for those 16 years and over and are able to use the pool unsupervised.

Only 2 children under the age of 12 will be allowed in the pool.

Lifeguards are on duty to ensure everyones safety.

Swim only tickets are available to non-residents for £10.00 per person, children aged 3-11 £6 per child and children under 3 – £2.00

Torbay has some beautiful stretches of coastline and beaches.

Wild Swimming is a great past time to take up and the beaches are patrolled regularly by trained lifeguards.

Please ensure that you are competent as swimming in the sea is different to swimming in your local pool

Swimming in the sea is very different to swimming in your local pool and only swim where there is a lifeguard or designated swimming zones.

Not up for a swim?  How about just paddling your toes and taking in the breathtaking scenery.
