Torbay born Danny Cooke, is celebrating as the short film he produced for Torre Abbey’s Tattoo: British Art Revealed exhibition is to be shown at the Austin Spotlight Film festival in Texas, USA.
Named Torbay Tattoo Tales, the film has also been nominated in the monthly documentary section of Short to the Point film festival in Bulgaria.

It’s a great honour for the film to be shortlisted and shown at these festivals. I travel a lot these days for work and it’s always a joy to return home to the Bay. When I’m back, it’s great to make films with local creatives that celebrate what a wonderful part of the world we live in.
Torbay Tattoo Film to go Global
The British Tattoo Art Revealed Exhibition is a comprehensive history of British Tattooing, featuring some of the latest cutting edge designers, leading academics and major private collectors from around the world.
It is considered that this exhibition is largest gathering of original tattoo artwork ever assembled in the UK and it features well over 400 original pieces of artworks, photographs and historic artefacts.
Tattoos, when designed and applied professionally, can reveal a lot of personal stories it can also represent a shared history and identity.
The Torbay Tattoo Takes film was commissioned as part of a wider project which aims to be one of the most largest collection of digital tattoos and associated stories captured in South Devon, UK.
Over 3 months worth of work
In total the stories took over 3 months to full capture and put together, further details can be found on the official Torbay Tattoo Tales website.
On the website you will find hundreds of Tattoo Tales and the project blog is where visiting/invited academics and experts can explore the impacts and discoveries unearthed by the project.
