2018 the year of Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and a heavy emphasis being put onto ensuring your website works for mobile devices and that it is secure.

Yet with all the new technology coming to the table is a website really needed in 2018?  The residing answer is yes.  and we’ve put together 7 good reasons why you need a website in 2018.

1. People are looking for you

Believe it or not your product/service is in demand, there are people out looking for your product, needing your services.  The yellow pages, whilst I’m sure attract a certain market, do not hold the weight they used to and that is down to the Internet.

Ensuring you have a website that is online, and can be found by the likes of Google or Yahoo is vital for helping people along the journey from enquiring to buying.

2. We’re more connected than ever

Think about it, how many times do you check your phone in a year?  According to a recent survey, we check our smartphones 10,000 times every year.  Whilst checking our phones we’ll do a search or we’ll check our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or other social media profiles.

We comment, like, share and even connect with other people via social networks.  Having a website that you can refer your likes, followers and connections to will maintain interest in your businesses brand and products as well as giving you a platform to showcase your expertise.

3. Competition are online

Let’s face it there are very few industries, today, that you will be the only player.

Your competition are already online and probably have been since before the 00s.  So if they are online and they are writing business as a result you’re missing out.  More importantly your potential customers could be going to your competitors first without even looking at your service offering.

4. Closed is the new open

Your website is online, or rather should be online, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Most offices do the normal working day of 09:00-17:30, some a little longer.  With a website you will never have to tell people that you are closed your website will permanently keep you open for business enabling you to pick up leads and visitors whilst you sleep.

5. Increase productivity

Websites can become an resource centres for your employees, customers and even suppliers.

Think about it, lets say you’re an architect and you’ve completely forgotten the plans for the new 7 storey building.  No problem, hop onto your website and you will be able to get a quick overview of the plans in digital form and get started.

More over, with resources being online, people from other departments can collaborate and work together to achieve business success.

6. You’re in control

Guess what, it’s yours, you decide where the individual elements go on a website, how the website looks, what you want on the website and when it goes live.

The website becomes part of your company marketing and the digital face of your business.  You have complete control over the websites content and other features.

7. There is money to be made

Shopping online is huge, aided further with people shopping on their smartphones and tablets whilst on the go.  Last year we spent $156.28 billion globally online.

So whether you run a small boutique business from your home or if you rent a retail premises and sell your products to the public.  Having an online store can greatly help you grow your business further.
